Our agency utilizes CoaguChek S Systems for quantitative determination of PT/INR. This system increases patient compliance and decreases the burden on the physician's office. The nurse performs a fingerstick INR at the patient's residence; the results and missed dosages are reported to the agency and the data is reported to the physician's office. In accordance with physician orders, new anticoagulant dosages and the next INR draw dates are confirmed with the office, field nurse, and patient.
