Lymphedema Management

Lymphedema is the swelling of a part of the body caused by an accumulation of lymphatic fluid, which usually occurs in the arms and legs. The lymph nodes are responsible for cleaning proteins and toxins from the body's fluids.  When the lymphatic vessels are not working properly (or are absent), these fluids collect and cause swelling that can become chronic if not treated properly. Our agency's lymphedema management program was designed and is supervised by therapists who are certified in lymphedema management. The therapist works closely with the nursing staff to ensure proper coordination of care.
